A faint rectangle helps Dino restorers: Alternator decals reproduced

When restoring the alternator we turned it just the right way in the light and saw a faint rectangle in the aluminum casting. It immediately became clear that a decal was missing so we went on the hunt to find it. After extensive searching we discovered that the alternator is supposed to have a warning label in Italian on it. Most cars are missing this because it was removed during one of the many alternator re-builds it likely got in its life.

More hunting got us some images of this decal and after many hours of digitizing one pixel at a time we were able to create artwork. From there it was off to a printer that specializes in decals for industrial machines that are meant to last decades and we commissioned a run of reproductions made with modern materials and super strong 3M adhesive.

We are most happy with the result and are offering them for sale in our store.

Just when we thought we were done we further discovered that the Alternator relay on the fuse panel is supposed to also have a marking decal on it. Further research and artwork allowed us to make some of those too. Of couse these are also avaialable in the store.

    1. Thank you for the kind words. Truth is that we just could not help ourselves when we saw that rectangle.

  2. I just noticed that the orientation of the Alternator relay label is flipped compared to the original one pictured in the store. It faces towards the relay's mounting whereas you picture the new one facing away from it. Which is correct?
